National Insect Week returns in 2020

Big Bug Hunt at Millennium Wood

Sunday, June 24, 2018 - 11:00 to 14:00

Between 11 and 2 pm we shall be searching Millennium Wood for all forms of insects.

Checking the grasses for bugs, flowers for butterflies, brambles for hoverflies.

How many species can we record?

Come along to join Jono in searching and photographing the fantastic world of insects.

Female water snipe flies Atherix ibis clasp each other and cluster in big round aggregations on the end of branches overhanging rivers – males entering the swarms are mated repeatedly until they die. The females then lay their eggs in to the water – and all die still in their tight aggregations.
