National Insect Week returns in 2020

Butterfly House at Williamson Park

Monday, June 18, 2018 - 10:00 to 17:00

Formerly an Edwardian palm house, the Butterfly House is now a rainforest home to butterflies, Koi carp, tortoises, quail and a chameleon.

Whatever the weather you can be sure of a warm welcome in this oasis of trees, vines, a waterfall and tropical plants.

Walk amongst some of the world’s most beautiful species, including Swallowtails and cleverly camouflaged Owl butterflies.

The pupae of new butterflies can be seen in a special display case and you may even see a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis. Learn about the lifecycle of a butterfly from the information boards or talk to one of our knowledgeable zoo keepers.

Tours of the Butterfly House take place every weekend and during half term at 11.30am.
