National Insect Week returns in 2020

Moth Night Weekend At Pensychnant

Saturday, June 16, 2018 - 21:00 to Sunday, June 17, 2018 - 12:00

Join the North Wales Branch for National Moth Night weekend!

We'll be searching for grass moths at 9pm on Saturday before setting moth traps and then on Sunday morning join us from 11am to go through the traps!

The theme of this year’s National Moth Night is Pyralids, so we will search for grass moths at
dusk, 9pm on Saturday, before setting the traps.

On Sunday morning, 11am, we will examine the catch with a cuppa. I will convince you that moths are not just boring and brown (some are brown, but none are boring!

Good photo opportunities! Donations appreciated.

Held at Pensychnant Conservation Centre And Nature Reserve, Conwy.

Address: Pensychnant, Sychnant Pass, Conwy, LL32 8BJ.

Did you know?

Most poisonous

There are lots of contenders here – possibly the pretty red and blue rove beetle Paederus – very, very tiny amounts of its poison have been used to cure chronic ulceration in people. Ladybirds are pretty poisonous (and pretty) and can bleed foul-tasting poisonous brightly coloured blood from their knees.
