17 Jun - 24 Jun 2016

Please note: this event is only for schools groups visiting ZSL London Zoo from 17-24 June 2016

To celebrate National Insect Week and Empty Classroom Day, ZSL London Zoo and ZSL Whipsnade Zoo are offering free minibeast-linked sessions for KS2 pupils from 17th - 24th of June 2016.  Get your pupils out of the classroom to explore ‘the little things that run the world’ and learn about amazing insects!

Bioblitz: Nature’s detectives

Ever wondered what native species are attracted to the wildflowers you see around the UK? In this new mini-BioBlitz session, your pupils will have the chance to work scientifically to collect data on native species found in ZSL London Zoo’s wildflower habitat. This session will allow pupils to find, classify and identify living things using scientific keys and record their findings. Their data will contribute to real local environmental records, e.g. GiGL (Greenspace Information Centre for Greater London), to help scientists understand more about the local wildlife in London.
