National Insect Week returns in 2020
Saturday, June 16, 2018 - 10:00 to 13:00
Join woodland ecology expert for a gentle walk around our Hucking Estate, near Maidstone, Kent, identifying birdsong, wildflowers, trees and anything else that crosses your paths!
This 573 acre (282 hectare) site offers an engaging and varied mix of habitats, set in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Ancient and newly planted woodland, carpets of wildflowers throughout the spring and summer, open rides and chalk grassland areas are all home to a wide variety of wildlife. These include twenty one species of butterfly - see how many you can find during the walk!
The walk starts at 10:00 and will finish by 13:00. Your guide, Bryan Bullen, has over 20 years’ experience as a woodland volunteer, a nature reserve warden, a wildlife surveyor, and leading study days and workshops within the county.
Accompanied children of all ages welcome, and dogs on leads.
