National Insect Week returns in 2020

Woodside Plant centre and Tearoom

Woodside Plant centre and Tearoom

Woodside is not just a plant centre and a cafe, but also a working kitchen and ornamental garden within a traditional walled garden setting. We run our garden as a wildlife haven. Together with the local branch of the RSPB we have created a unique 'Homes for Wildlife Garden', and we focus on growing (and selling) plants that have benefits to wildlife. Woodside is home to a diverse population of birds and insects, as well as a healthy newt population and a family of happy hedgehogs.

Lacewing lollipops

Lacewings lay their eggs at the ends of single stalks of hardened mucus on the underside of leaves.
