Field Studies Council

The Field Studies Council is an environmental education charity committed to helping people understand, and be inspired, by the natural world. It has a network of 17 education centres in the UK, providing fieldwork experience and practical courses for thousands of students every year. It also produces a range of publications, including pictorial field guides for species identification.

Did you know?

Most poisonous

There are lots of contenders here – possibly the pretty red and blue rove beetle Paederus – very, very tiny amounts of its poison have been used to cure chronic ulceration in people. Ladybirds are pretty poisonous (and pretty) and can bleed foul-tasting poisonous brightly coloured blood from their knees.
